About Me
Hey there, I’m Emily! It’s so great to have you here at Finger Licking Recipes. I’m a 34-year-old home chef, recipe developer, and all-around food lover, currently soaking up the sunshine here in beautiful Austin, Texas.

My love affair with food started in my grandmother’s kitchen back in North Carolina. I can still smell the aroma of her slow-simmered tomato sauce and freshly baked bread that filled every corner of her home. She was my first teacher, and her philosophy was simple: good food doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be made with love. That’s a lesson that has stuck with me throughout my entire culinary journey.
For years, I followed a pretty traditional path. I went to culinary school, where I learned the fancy French techniques and all the “right” ways to do things. I worked in bustling restaurant kitchens, and while I loved the energy and the camaraderie, I always felt a little disconnected from the reason I fell in love with cooking in the first place – the joy of sharing simple, delicious food with people you care about.
That’s what led me to start this blog. I wanted to create a space where we could get back to basics, focusing on wholesome ingredients and recipes that are both nourishing and incredibly tasty. My goal is to prove that “healthy” and “easy” can absolutely live in the same sentence as “finger-licking good.” I’m all about finding clever shortcuts that don’t sacrifice flavor and creating dishes that will make you feel as good as they taste.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my fair share of kitchen mishaps! I’ve burned more batches of cookies than I can count and once tried a “healthy” brownie recipe that my husband politely described as “interestingly textured.” But that’s all part of the fun, right? Cooking should be an adventure, a chance to play and experiment. Here at Finger Licking Recipes, we celebrate the successes and learn from the occasional flops together.
So, pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s get cooking. I’m so excited to share my passion with you and hopefully inspire you to create some delicious memories in your own kitchen.
