Method
- Remove the Canadian bacon from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. This helps it crisp up nicely in the skillet.
- Place your skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil or butter and let it melt and heat up. You'll know it's ready when the oil shimmers or the butter is melted and slightly foamy.
- Carefully place the Canadian bacon slices in the hot skillet in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. If needed, cook in batches.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the Canadian bacon is nicely browned and crispy around the edges. Watch closely to prevent burning! The sugars in the bacon can caramelize quickly.
- Sprinkle the freshly ground black pepper over the Canadian bacon while it's cooking in the pan. Once cooked to your liking, remove the slices from the skillet and place them on the prepared plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Canadian bacon is best enjoyed hot and crispy right away! Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired, and serve with your favorite breakfast or brunch sides.
