Ingredients

  • 2 firm yellow bananas Slightly green is ideal. Avoid overripe bananas.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Prevents browning.
  • 1 tsp avocado oil or coconut oil Or cooking spray.
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon Optional, but recommended.

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Mandoline Slicer or Sharp Knife

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Peel the bananas and slice them into 1/8-inch thick rounds using a mandoline or sharp knife for uniformity.
  2. In a medium bowl, gently toss the banana slices with lemon juice. In a separate small bowl, mix the oil and cinnamon. Drizzle over the banana slices and toss again to coat evenly.
  3. Arrange the slices in a single, non-overlapping layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp. Work in batches if necessary.
  4. Transfer the banana chips to a wire rack to cool completely. They will become much crispier as they cool down.

Notes

Re-crisping: If the chips lose their crunch, air fry them for 1-2 minutes at 350°F to restore their crispiness.
