Method
- In a small saucepan, combine the water, sliced ginger, and cinnamon stick. If you're making a bariatric seed tea recipe, add the cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds now.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes. This allows the beneficial compounds from the ginger and spices to fully infuse into the water.
- Turn off the heat. Place the green tea bag in the saucepan and let it steep for 3-5 minutes. Be careful not to steep it for too long, as green tea can become bitter.
- Remove the tea bag and cinnamon stick. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into your favorite mug.
- Stir in the fresh lemon juice and your optional sweetener of choice. Sip slowly and enjoy the soothing warmth.
Notes
You can prepare this tea in a large batch and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Enjoy it warm or served over ice. For the banana tea variation, boil a sliced organic banana (with peel) in water for 10 minutes for a caffeine-free evening drink.
