Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet A 12-inch skillet works best.
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Knife

Method

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, about 30-60 seconds.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  4. Pour in the white wine or chicken broth to deglaze the pan, scraping up any delicious browned bits. Bring to a simmer and let it reduce for 1 minute.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcook: Shrimp cook very quickly. Remove them from the heat as soon as they turn pink to keep them tender.
Dry your shrimp: Patting the shrimp dry is crucial for getting a good sear.
Serving: Delicious over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
