Method
- In a glass or mason jar, add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and 1 cup of water.
- Squeeze in 1-2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice. Add any optional ingredients like honey, cayenne pepper, or mint leaves at this stage.
- Stir the mixture well for about 30-60 seconds to ensure the chia seeds are fully incorporated and do not clump together.
- Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15-20 minutes. You will see the seeds start to absorb the water and form a gel. For the best texture, you can let it sit longer or prepare overnight in the fridge.
- Give the chia water one final stir to break up any remaining clumps and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For a larger batch, use 2-3 tablespoons of chia seeds per 4 cups of water and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If you are new to chia seeds, start with a smaller amount and gradually increase your intake to allow your digestive system to adjust to the high fiber content.
