Method

  1. In a glass or mason jar, add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds and 1 cup of water.
  2. Squeeze in 1-2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice. Add any optional ingredients like honey, cayenne pepper, or mint leaves at this stage.
  3. Stir the mixture well for about 30-60 seconds to ensure the chia seeds are fully incorporated and do not clump together.
  4. Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15-20 minutes. You will see the seeds start to absorb the water and form a gel. For the best texture, you can let it sit longer or prepare overnight in the fridge.
  5. Give the chia water one final stir to break up any remaining clumps and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a larger batch, use 2-3 tablespoons of chia seeds per 4 cups of water and store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. If you are new to chia seeds, start with a smaller amount and gradually increase your intake to allow your digestive system to adjust to the high fiber content.
