Ingredients

  • 28 ounce bag of frozen crinkle-cut french fries
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded A rotisserie chicken works great as a shortcut.
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
  • 1 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking the chicken, if needed.
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Large Baking Sheet
  • 1 Skillet

Method

  1. Prepare the Components: Cook bacon until crispy, then set aside and crumble. If using uncooked chicken, season with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook in a skillet with olive oil until done, then shred.
  2. Bake the Fries: Spread the frozen french fries on a large baking sheet in a single layer. Bake according to package directions until golden and crispy.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Remove crispy fries from the oven. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese, then top with the shredded chicken and crumbled bacon.
  4. Add More Cheese and Melt: Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top. Return to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven. Drizzle with ranch dressing and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispy fries, spread them in a single layer and don't overcrowd the pan.
Grating your own cheese from a block results in a smoother, creamier melt.
Feel free to customize with toppings like jalapeños, tomatoes, or different sauces.
