Method
- In a small saucepan, add 3 cups of water and 3 cinnamon sticks.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer gently for 10-15 minutes. The longer it simmers, the stronger the flavor will be.
- For an even deeper flavor, turn off the heat and let the tea steep for another 5-10 minutes with the lid on.
- Carefully pour the hot tea into mugs. You can leave the cinnamon sticks in for garnish. Add honey or your sweetener of choice to taste and stir until dissolved. Garnish with a lemon wedge if desired.
Notes
For a stronger flavor, break the cinnamon sticks in half before simmering. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For variations, add sliced ginger, turmeric, or apple slices to the water while simmering.
