  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 cup Milk any kind works
  • 4 cups Sliced Peaches fresh, canned (drained), or frozen
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice optional, but recommended

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch Baking Dish
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it in the oven to melt. Once fully melted, remove the dish from the oven.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. In a separate small bowl, toss the sliced peaches with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and the lemon juice.
  4. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  5. Spoon the peaches and their juices evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  6. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let the cobbler cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to set.

Notes

Do Not Stir: The magic of this recipe is in the layers. Pouring the batter over the butter, then peaches over the batter without stirring creates the perfect texture.
Serve Warm: This peach cobbler is best enjoyed warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Spice it Up: Feel free to add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter for a warm, spiced flavor.
