Ingredients

Candy Dough
  • 2 cups (240g) powdered sugar Sifted
  • 2 tbsp (30g) cream cheese Softened to room temperature
  • 3 tbsp (24g) cornstarch For dusting and creating a matte finish
  • 1 tsp (5ml) culinary lavender extract Or peppermint extract
  • 1 tbsp (3g) tiny dried purple lavender buds Food-grade
  • 1 tbsp (3g) crushed pink rose petals Food-grade
  • 1 tsp (1g) small dried herbs Culinary thyme or mint

Equipment

  • 1 Glass mixing bowl For mixing the stiff candy dough.
  • 1 Rustic wooden board For authentic serving presentation.
  • 1 Amber glass dropper bottle For holding extra flavor extract.

Method

Making the Edible Stones
  1. In a medium glass bowl, combine the powdered sugar and softened cream cheese. Knead the mixture with your hands until it forms a smooth, pliable dough that resembles white clay.
  2. Add the flavor extract into the dough and knead until fully incorporated. Heavily dust your clean work surface with the cornstarch.
  3. Pinch off small portions of the dough and roll them into 1-inch (2.5cm) balls. Place them onto the cornstarch-dusted surface and gently press each ball down with a flat glass to form smooth, flat circles.
  4. While the dough is soft, generously sprinkle the dried purple lavender buds, crushed pink rose petals, and small dried herbs onto the top surface. Gently press the garnishes into the dough so they adhere.
  5. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and let air dry at room temperature for 2 hours. Serve resting on a rustic wooden board with an amber glass dropper bottle of extra extract nearby.
