Ingredients

Recipe Ingredients
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry approx. 17.3 oz / 490g, thawed
  • 8 oz Thin-sliced Ham 225g, savory variety
  • 6 oz Swiss Cheese 170g, sliced or shredded
  • 1 large Egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp Water 15ml, for egg wash
  • 1 tsp Poppy Seeds 3g
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Parsley Flakes 1g
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose Flour 16g, for dusting

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet Large rimmed sheet
  • 1 Parchment Paper To prevent sticking
  • 1 Pastry Brush For egg wash
  • 1 Chef's Knife Sharp blade for clean cuts

Method

Preparation and Cutting
  1. Thaw puff pastry in the fridge. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, cut each sheet into 12 equal rectangles using a sharp knife for clean edges.
Assembly
  1. Place 12 rectangles on the sheet. Layer ham and Swiss cheese, ensuring cheese will 'ooze' out the sides during baking.
  2. Place the remaining 12 rectangles on top to create towers. Press center lightly but avoid the edges.
Finishing and Baking
  1. Whisk egg and water. Brush onto tops and sprinkle with poppy seeds and dried parsley flakes.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden-brown, flaky, and cheese is bubbly. Serve warm.
