Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Use a good quality, full-fat mayonnaise.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Full-fat provides the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk Add more for a thinner dressing.
  • 4 ounces blue cheese crumbled from a wedge
  • 1 clove garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • Salt to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, add about half of your blue cheese crumbles (2 ounces). Use a fork to mash them against the side of the bowl until they form a paste. This step ensures the blue cheese flavor infuses the entire dressing.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, minced garlic, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce to the bowl. Whisk until everything is smooth and well combined.
  3. Gently fold in the remaining 2 ounces of blue cheese crumbles. This creates a dressing that is both creamy and chunky.
  4. Season with black pepper and salt to taste. For the best flavor, cover the dressing and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
Consistency: For a thicker dip, use less buttermilk. For a thinner dressing, add more buttermilk a teaspoon at a time.
Cheese Choice: Gorgonzola will yield a creamier dressing, while Roquefort will be sharper and more pungent.
