Method
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until combined. This helps prevent lumps.
- Add the water to the saucepan. Whisk constantly over medium heat until the mixture comes to a gentle boil and all ingredients are smoothly combined.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer for 1-2 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the syrup to cool completely before transferring to a storage container. It will thicken further as it cools.
