Homemade Teriyaki Sauce (Better Than Store-Bought!)

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tbsp sake
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar or brown sugar

Method
 

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. It will thicken slightly as it cools. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes
