Ingredients
  

For the Beef and Sauce
  • 1 lb lean ground beef 85/15 or 90/10
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar packed
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or more, to taste
For Serving
  • 4 cups cooked rice for serving
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Carefully drain off any excess grease from the skillet.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef. Stir to coat and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  5. Spoon the Korean ground beef over bowls of warm rice. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
