Ingredients

  • 3-4 pound beef chuck roast Look for a well-marbled cut.
  • 1 ounce packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter This is equivalent to 1 stick.
  • 5-6 whole pepperoncini peppers Add more for extra tang.

Equipment

  • 1 Slow Cooker A 6-quart slow cooker is recommended.

Method

  1. Place the chuck roast into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning and au jus gravy mix over the roast.
  2. Place the stick of butter on top of the seasoned roast. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers around the butter.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours. Do not add any liquid.
  4. Once cooked, the roast will be fall-apart tender. Shred the meat directly in the slow cooker using two forks. Stir the shredded meat with the juices to coat. Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the gravy, then serve hot.
