  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange zest from about 1 large orange
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the softened unsalted butter, powdered sugar, orange zest, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground cardamom, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter mixture on low speed. Mix only until the flour is just combined.
  4. Form the dough into a flat disc, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll the chilled dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
