Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed according to package directions
  • 3 tbsp strawberry jam or filling of your choice (e.g., Nutella)
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tsp water to make an egg wash

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • 1 Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter A 2-3 inch cutter works well.
  • 1 Pastry Brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Gently unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Lightly roll it out to about 1/8-inch thickness if needed.
  3. Spread a thin, even layer of strawberry jam over the entire surface of the puff pastry.
  4. Carefully fold the pastry sheet in half over the filling and press gently. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the hearts. You may re-roll the scraps once to cut out additional hearts.
  5. Arrange the hearts on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the egg wash. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
