Prepare the Dough
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, and salt.
- Add cold cubed butter to the flour. Use a pastry cutter to work the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces remaining.
- Stir in 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Pour in cold buttermilk and fold gently until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.
Shape and Bake
- Scoop 8-10 golf-ball-sized portions of dough and place them side-by-side in a greased loaf pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top of the mounds.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbling with crispy edges and the loaf is golden brown.
Glaze and Serve
- Whisk melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Brush liberally over the hot loaf immediately after removing it from the oven.
