Ingredients
  

For the Ramen
  • 1 package instant ramen noodles seasoning packet discarded
  • 1 tbsp gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 1 tsp gochugaru Korean chili flakes
  • 1 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil divided
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 cups water
Optional Toppings
  • 1 soft-boiled egg
  • 1 tbsp green onions sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Method
 

  1. Heat 1/2 tsp of sesame oil in a small pot over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  2. Stir in the gochujang, gochugaru, and soy sauce. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes to let flavors meld.
  4. Add the instant ramen noodle block to the broth and cook according to package instructions, typically 3-4 minutes.
  5. Transfer everything to a bowl. Drizzle with the remaining 1/2 tsp of sesame oil. Garnish with a soft-boiled egg, sliced green onions, and toasted sesame seeds if desired.
