  • 24 wonton wrappers Using two per cup makes them sturdier
  • 1 lb lean ground beef 85/15 or 90/10 works best
  • 1 packet taco seasoning About 2 tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup salsa or water To add moisture to the filling
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, jalapeños

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray. Gently press one wonton wrapper into each cup.
  2. Bake the empty wonton wrappers for 5-7 minutes, until lightly golden and crispy.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease. Add the onion, garlic, and taco seasoning, and cook for 2-3 minutes more.
  4. Spoon the beef mixture into each pre-baked wonton cup. Top generously with shredded cheese.
  5. Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake for 5-8 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the wonton edges are golden brown.
  6. Let cool for a minute before removing from the tin. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. Serve immediately.
