Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Milk dairy, almond, coconut, or oat milk
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger Optional but recommended
  • 1 pinch Black Pepper Freshly ground is best
  • 1-2 tsp Honey or Maple Syrup to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Coconut Oil or Ghee Optional but recommended for absorption

Method
 

  1. In a small saucepan, add your milk of choice, ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and a pinch of black pepper.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Whisk the ingredients together until the turmeric is fully dissolved to prevent clumps.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, but do not boil. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the coconut oil or ghee (if using) until it melts. Add honey or maple syrup to taste.
  5. Pour into a mug and serve immediately. Garnish with an extra sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

For a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender before serving. To make this with fresh ingredients, substitute the ground turmeric and ginger with a 1-inch piece of grated fresh turmeric and a 1/2-inch piece of grated fresh ginger; strain before serving. Remember to add the honey off-heat to retain its beneficial properties.
